President Donald Trump has intensified his criticism of U.S. District Court Judge James E. Boasberg following the judge's decision to halt the administration's deportation of alleged Venezuelan gang members under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. Trump labeled Boasberg a "Radical Left Lunatic Judge" and called for his impeachment, actions that have drawn a rare public rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts, who emphasized that impeachment is not a remedy for judicial disagreements.

The administration's deportations, targeting individuals purportedly affiliated with the Tren de Aragua gang, have faced legal challenges due to concerns over due process and the unprecedented use of the Alien Enemies Act. Despite Judge Boasberg's order to halt these deportations, the administration proceeded, arguing that the flights were beyond U.S. jurisdiction once over international waters. This defiance has raised alarms about potential constitutional conflicts and the integrity of the judicial system.

An appeals court is scheduled to hear oral arguments on the administration's challenge to Boasberg's restraining order. The outcome could have significant implications for the separation of powers and the enforcement of judicial decisions. In the meantime, Trump is set to make public appearances at the White House, including remarks with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and a celebration of Greek Independence Day.
