Lagos State Minimum Wage Increase: Governor Sanwo-Olu Announces N85,000 for Workers

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced plans to raise the minimum wage for workers in the state to N85,000.

The governor made the disclosure during an interview on Channels TV’s “One-On-One with Babajide Sanwo-Olu” on Wednesday evening.

Sanwo-Olu explained that the decision followed consultations with labor unions in the state. He emphasized that the wage increase is based on Lagos' financial capability and not meant to compete with other states.

“It’s not about competition. Our focus is on what we can afford and our capacity to sustain it,” he said.

He added that the adjustment is intended to enhance the welfare of Lagos State workers amid ongoing economic challenges.
