Sallah: After sighting the 'Dhul Hijjah" crescent, Saudi Arabia announces June 16 to be Sallah Day.

On Wednesday, June 5, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia issued an invitation to all Muslims in the Kingdom to take part in the seeing of the crescent moon during the Arabic month of Dhu Al Hijjah. The holy month officially began today, June 7, with the sighting of the crescent.

Additionally, on Friday, June 14, the Hajj pilgrimage for 1445 AH-2024 will begin. On Saturday, June 15, the day of Arafah will fall. 

As a result of the event, Sunday, June 16, 2024 will see the observance of Eid Al-Adha, the largest celebration for Muslims. Muslims view the slaughter of rams as a sacrifice, and this celebratory occasion is marked by their death.
