A heartbreaking video showed Junior Pope's first son failing to fill his father's tomb with sand.
A clergyman is shown in the extensively circulated video offering a spade as a parting gift to each family member.
His first son was so distraught that he was unable to carry out the custom, but Junior Pope's wife and two other children did.
Many Nigerians were moved by this poignant scenario, which prompted an outpouring of sympathy and support for the bereaved family.
