Tragedy Strikes: Bandit Attack Leaves Three Dead, 130 Abducted in Zamfara State

 


In the Maradun local government area of Zamfara State, bandits terrorized the Goran Namaye hamlet, resulting in the deaths of three people and the kidnapping of 130 inhabitants. Read full story 

 Salisu Lawali, a local resident, told Leadership that the bandits attacked the town on Thursday, May 16, at around one in the morning, moving from home to house. 

Lawali went on to say that most of the people abducted were women, though there were a few men among them, 

and he confirmed that three people had died in the invasion.

The local further stated that the bandits surrounded the village on motorcycles bearing heavy weaponry before attacking the civilians. They arrived in big numbers.

In an attempt to free the kidnapped individuals, Lawali appealed to the federal and state governments to send security personnel to the region in order to track down the terrorists' hiding place and free the local populace, since they were without money to pay a ransom. 

As of the time that this report was filed, state security services had not released a statement on the attack.
