The traditional ruler was surrounded by more security when he was leaving the Obi Wali International Conference Centre, where the summit was being held in Port Harcourt. This prevented media from having a quick conversation with him.

At that point, Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has congratulated Sanusi II on his re-appointment as Kano's 14th Emir.

Fubara, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, stated that he was overjoyed to learn of the reinstatement of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), especially since Khalifa Sanusi II was in the state to give impetus to his administration's initiative to reshape the state's economic trajectory.

As per the governor's statement, Muhammad Sanusi II's dethronement on March 9, 2020, was an unjust act towards the millions of people who had faith in his reign during his tenure on the esteemed throne, and his reinstatement by the Kano State government at this time demonstrated that it went against the wishes and aspirations of the state's great people.

He applauded the people of Kano State for their desire to have their voices heard and for taking action to right historical wrongs. He also asked the people to assist Sarki, the leader of the old city of Kano, as much as possible so that he might succeed.
