Fubara sends strong warning to local govt chairmen, You have no monopoly of violence.

The governor made his announcement in the face of threats from the chairmen of the local governments, who said they would not leave their positions on July 17 due to a legislation amendment that allowed the Martins Amaewhule-led House of Assembly to prolong their terms by six months.

They were warned not to resort to violence by the governor, who also threatened to punish them if they used their supposedly "useless" support to harm anyone in the state. 

The governor expressed sorrow that following Tuesday's state ceremony, some attendees of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road project were attacked by miscreants as they were returning home. He called these actions completely unnecessary.

At the Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Road project's formal kick-off on Thursday in the Emohua Local Government Area, Fubara issued the warning to the Egbeda community.

He said: “Let me also say this here. When we left Aleto the other day, some people went there and attacked our people. There is no need for that.

“Nobody has the monopoly of violence. I should even be the one who should come out and shout that I will do this and that. But I don’t need to do that because both sides belong to me. I have taken an oath to protect all. Continue from source
