US-Based Ghanaian Couple Convicted of Second-Degree Murder in Son's Death sentenced to life imprisonment.

The US-based Ghanaian couple, Valerie Owusu and Emmanuel Addae, have been convicted of second-degree murder in the tragic death of their five-year-old son nearly three years ago.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office revealed that the couple brutally beat the child with “at least four different instruments” over a span of three days in 2021.

Shockingly, neither Owusu nor Addae sought medical assistance or called 911 as the boy's condition worsened. Instead, they transported him to a family member’s house, where he was later found deceased.

The District Attorney condemned the defendants for subjecting the child to days of abuse, stating, This little boy endured days of abuse at the hands of these defendants, one of whom was his own mother, until tragically succumbing to his severe injuries.”

The diligent investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department led to the couple being held accountable for their heinous crime.

The Ghanaian couple is scheduled to be sentenced on May 1, 2024, and they face the possibility of life imprisonment.
