A 27-year-old man has been hacked to death following a dispute with his 31-year-old brother. According to neighbours at Syiluni village in Mbooni, Makueni county, the victim died after being cut with a machete on Wednesday morning. Their parents sustained injuries in the attack.
Area Chief James Mutuku said the suspect slashed and severely injured his brother before turning on their parents when they attempted to intervene.
The Chief stated that the suspect went into hiding after the assault. He was, however, spotted by residents, who cornered him and beat him up before police came to his rescue.
During an interrogation, the man claimed that he had a vision that God told him to commit the murder.
The suspect was arrested and is being held at the local Police Station where he is assisting with investigations.
Mutuku also cautioned residents to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes to avoid unnecessary loss of life. Such death and injuries could have been prevented if the matter was handled amicably.
The body of the deceased was taken to the nearby morgue pending postmortem.
