I regretted killing my closed friend: Man who kills childhood friend in Ondo, steals his motorcycle confesses.

Dolapo Babalola, a 39-year-old man from Ondo town, was apprehended by the Ondo State Police Command for the murder of his childhood friend, Evangelist Opeyemi Oyelakin, 34.

Babalola, alongside his accomplice Sikiru Mutiu, who remains at large, committed the crime on March 15, 2024.

They lured the victim to Oke-Igbo under the pretext of inspecting a piece of land, where they attacked and killed him, then disposed of his motorcycle for N130,000 in Ibadan.

Babalola, upon interrogation, admitted to the crime and expressed remorse, attributing his actions to the influence of the devil.

Despite being involved in previous motorcycle thefts, this was his first murder.

The Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipo, highlighted Babalola's involvement in a larger syndicate and urged caution among motorcyclists when transporting passengers to remote areas.

He also called on the community to be vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
