The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation's inability to finalize the 2024 Appropriation on the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS) platform is cited as the reason for the delay.

This failure has hindered the release of the personnel warrant for January 2024 salary payments. The General Secretary of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Bomoi Muhammed Ibraheem, confirmed that union members have not received their salaries.

Frustration is palpable among federal civil servants, with one employee in Abuja expressing concern about meeting financial responsibilities amid the economic challenges.

The delay prompted the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja, to address the issue internally, notifying staff in a memo dated January 31, 2024, titled "Delay in the payment of January 2024 salary."
