The APC replaced Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the chairman of the Edo State Primary Election Committee, appointing Senator Bassey Otu as the new chairman, according to a circular issued by Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the party’s National Organising Secretary.
Initially declared inconclusive, the primary election saw three candidates emerge, causing confusion. Among them were Member of the House of Representatives Dennis Idahosa and Senator Okpebholo.
Senator Oserheimen Osunbor and other stakeholders called for the cancellation of the election.
Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi accused former APC national chairman Adams Oshiomhole of attempting to impose a governorship candidate during the primary election, alleging Oshiomhole's interference could lead to the party's loss in Edo State.
