INEC Initiates Transparent Distribution of Election Materials in Yobe State for Yobe East Senatorial Bye-Election and Rerun - Plans Secure Transportation and Deploys 4,232 Ad-hoc Staff.

 


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has initiated the distribution of sensitive materials across the eight local government areas of Yobe State for the Yobe East Senatorial and Fika/Fune Federal Constituency bye-election and rerun scheduled for Saturday. Read full article 

This process, endorsed by five participating political parties and key stakeholders, adheres to INEC's transparency policy, as stated by Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Yobe.

Speaking to the press during the material distribution at the Central Bank of Nigeria office in Damaturu, Abdullahi emphasized the commission's commitment to transparency.

 He outlined the plan for secure transportation, with electoral officers escorted by military, police, and other agencies to ensure the safe delivery of materials to wards and polling units across the eight local government areas.

Abdullahi urged voters in the designated areas to participate in an orderly manner. The bye-election for Yobe East Senatorial District will occur in seven local government areas, including Damaturu, Gujba, Gulani, Tarmuwa, Bursari, Geidam, and Yunusari. 

Additionally, a re-run is scheduled for a unit in Shoye Garin Abba Registration Area 001, Balde Primary School of Fika Local Government Area under Fika/Fune Federal Constituency.

The commission has finalized plans for deployment, with 4,232 ad-hoc staff and 1,339 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines designated for use in the upcoming elections.
