In a recent interview with Power 96.5 FM in Miami, the singer stated that she would rather be with a man who enjoys playing video games than a man who goes out to bars.
When people ask Tyla about her romantic life, she says that she is single because she wants to focus entirely on her music career.
The interviewer asked the subsequent question
“Would you rather have a boyfriend who plays video games a lot or a boyfriend who is always in the club?”
Tyla replied:
“Video games all day. A club guy? No! What the hell?
“I would rather have a boyfriend who plays video games than a boyfriend who is at the club every weekend. At least, I know the guy who plays video games will always be home with me. I also love being at home.”
Regarding why she is single, she stated:
“Yes, I am single. I’m not playing with all of that right now. I am focusing on the prize.”
According to Bendelnews, when South African singer Tyla was given a Grammy Award for her song "Water," the organizers of the ceremony sparked a lot of internet debate.
The song "Water No Get Enemy," by the late Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, caused controversy when it was played at the announcement.
The first-ever Best African Music Performance award went to Tyla's "Water," which beat out popular Nigerian songs including Davido's "Unavailable," Asake's "Amapiano," Burna Boy's "City Boys," and Ayra Starr's "Rush."
But instead of Tyla's sensual midtempo ballad, Fela's timeless masterpiece reverberated throughout the arena, turning the joyful moment into confusion and sadness.
A lot of people were upset with the organizers for what they saw as a "silly mistake" that denigrated Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, a legendary figure in African music history, and obscured the significance of the prize.
