Speaking in Ilorin, Kwara State, he emphasized the need for immediate action following the abduction and murder of retired Army General Oba Olusegun Aremu in Ekiti State.
Olawepo-Hashim highlighted recent attacks in the region, including the killings of two Ekiti monarchs and the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school bus.
He condemned the violence, describing it as part of the ongoing crisis perpetrated by terrorist groups across Nigeria. Olawepo-Hashim called for swift legislative action, noting that the APC holds significant political power at both the national and state levels.
He advocated for the establishment of state police, citing the limitations of the current centralized policing system outlined in the Nigerian Constitution. While acknowledging that state policing may not entirely resolve Nigeria's security challenges, he asserted that it would address a significant portion of the problem.
