Video: Solidarity March in Port Harcourt: NLC, TUC, Students, and Civil Society Unite in Support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid Political Turmoil.

Today, December 22, members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), student unions, civil society organizations, and the Hausa community, among others, joined in a solidarity march for the embattled governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara. Read full article

The gathering took place in front of the Government House in Port Harcourt, where state workers expressed gratitude to the governor for the N100,000 Christmas bonus. This show of support comes amid the governor's ongoing faceoff with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

The discord between Wike and Fubara resulted in a rift within the House, leading 27 lawmakers to defect from the PDP to the ruling APC. Notably, Wike, who is part of the central government in the APC, saw tensions escalate to the point of an impeachment notice, the demolition of the Assembly complex, and several pro-Wike commissioners resigning from Fubara's cabinet.

However, signs of resolution emerged after a meeting between the warring parties, facilitated by Tunubu, on Monday, December 18.
