On Thursday morning, December 21, 2023, the deceased, who was seated behind the wheel and buckled up in his seatbelt, was discovered at Ikpokpan crossroads. There were no visible signs of physical harm that would have indicated a violent attack.
The man's pants pockets and the inside of his automobile were discovered to have been looted by alleged burglars by police investigations.
His phone has gone stolen, therefore investigators at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, Edo Police Command are trying to identify him and get in touch with his family.
The sole indication, according to SP Chidi Nwabuzor, a spokeswoman for the Edo State Police Command, who confirmed the event, is a hotel receipt bearing the name Dr. Eromon David.
The PPRO reported, "This morning (Thursday), the corpse was discovered inside a dark blue Toyota 4Runner with registration number Lagos FKJ-39 FB at Ikpokpan junction, G.R.A, Benin City."
"The man's phone and other valuables were missing when the police searched the car because it had been ransacked," the statement reads.
Even the dead man's body was so thoroughly looted that his pockets were flipped inside out, indicating that the pockets on his pants had been tampered with.
"Three housing receipt copies with the University of Benin's name. We recognized Dr. Eromon David when we looked up his name on the receipts. An investigation is still underway.
Nwabuzor said detectives would look at other incident-related concerns as well as the cause of death.
