Successful Rescue Operation: 21 Abducted Victims Liberated on Ajaokuta-Itobe Road in Kogi State.

 


In Kogi State, security forces, including the Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and local vigilantes, successfully rescued 21 victims kidnapped on the Ajaokuta-Itobe Road. Read full story 

The abducted individuals, including travelers, students, and staff of Comprehensive High School, Ajaokuta, were taken on December 28, 2023, to an unknown destination in the dense forest near Ajaokuta Local Government Area.



On Saturday, December 30, Chief Press Secretary Onogwu Mohammed confirmed the rescue, stating that Governor Yahaya Bello promptly directed security agencies and vigilantes to take immediate action for the captives' freedom. The governor stressed the need to apprehend the perpetrators.

Within 48 hours, the combined efforts of security forces led to the release of the captives, with some kidnappers apprehended, and others pursued. 

Governor Bello commended the security operatives, expressing relief and satisfaction with the operation's success. 

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring Kogi State remains one of the safest in the country, underscoring collaborative efforts against criminal elements.
