Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo state, passed away. On Wednesday, December 27, the governor, who had been fighting prostate cancer and leukemia, passed away in Lagos.
Since he could not be transported overseas, late Akeredolu was being cared for by State House physicians in Lagos.
Remember that after a three-month medical leave in Germany, the ill governor came back to Nigeria in September. President Bola Tinubu ordered him to transfer power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who had been acting governor in his place, hence on December 12 he took another medical leave.
The late Akeredolu is survived by his children, grandchildren, and wife, Betty.
