Mr.Ibrahim Farinloye, the territorial coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the fatalities, including a 12-year-old boy and two adults, a male and a female.
Despite evacuation notices issued by the Lagos Building Control Agency, the two-storey building collapsed.
Residents reported an unusual behavior of a dog cared for by the building's occupants before the incident.
The dog, refusing to enter the building and exhibiting sorrowful barking, left just before the collapse.
Search and rescue operations are currently underway to respond to the tragic incident.
