The disaster claimed the lives of assistant coach Khalid Muftah and goalie Zakaria Bouziani, 27, of Mouloudia El Bayadh, a top division team, according to the Algerian state news agency

On Friday, while traveling to Tizi Ouzou to play JSK Kabylie in a league match, the team's bus capsized near the northwest Algerian town of Sougueur, according to local media. 

The club said on Facebook that the remaining nine injured members were in stable condition.

In a terrifying bus crash in Algeria, a football player and coach were killed.

 The Algerian Football Federation (Faf) decided to halt all football-related events planned for this week's end nationwide in the aftermath of the terrible tragedy that befell Algerian football, the federation stated in a statement.

In a separate statement, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria expressed his sympathies to the families of the deceased, saying that he was filled with "great pain and sorrow" upon learning of the tragedy.

This season, Bouziani, a stand-in goalie, played in two league games.

The 27-year-old had previously played for JS Saoura and NC Magra, two other Algerian Ligue 1 teams. He was not utilized as a substitute during last Friday's 1-1 draw with USM Alger.
