When his contract with the Parisians expires in the summer of 2022, the French superstar had intended to join Real Madrid. He did, however, come to his senses and sign a new agreement with the French powerhouses that would last until 2024 with the option of an additional year until 2025 that he alone could activate.
Mbappe was banished from the PSG team in the summer after telling the organization he would not be using the extension and would instead be leaving on a free transfer the following summer. After that, he was made to train with a group after being left out of the club's preseason trip of South Korea and Japan.
After missing the season's first match against Lorient, Mbappe was later reintegrated.
RMC Sport, a French publication, claims that Mbappe was only permitted to rejoin the team on the condition that he give up whatever bonuses he was due.
According to the article, PSG had first maintained that signing a new contract was the only option for him to rejoin Luis Enrique's first squad, something the forward declined to do and a possibility he continues to dismiss.
They consequently adopted a different strategy, and Mbappe has now forfeited bonuses of over €80 million (£70 million) after coming to an understanding with the team after his reintegration.
PSG is still in a desperate attempt to get their lucky player, who is still being linked to a move to Real Madrid, to extend his contract.
Mbappe has scored 13 goals in 11 Ligue 1 games this season, so he doesn't appear to be distracted by the ongoing rumors about his future.
