Kogi guber: Voting Ends In Kogi, Elections Suspended Some Wards, Collation to commence Soon

According to Dr. Gabriel Longpet, the resident electoral commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission in Kogi State, the collation of the results of the governorship election that was held in the state on Saturday would begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Read full article

In an interview with newsmen in Lokoja, Longpet revealed this.

However, the state's officials reported electoral irregularities to the electoral commission.

The decision to halt polls in some wards was made, according to INEC, because of the pre-filled result sheet occurrence, which constituted a serious problem.

Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ogori/Magongo, Okehi, and Okene Local Government Areas are among the locations where pre-filled results were recorded.

According to INEC, Ogori/Magongo had nine out of the ten registration areas affected by the most significant events.

"This is completely unacceptable," the Commission declared in a statement written by National Commissioner & Member Information and Voter Education Committee Mohammed Kudu Haruna.

Any outcome from the Polling Units that does not stem from the Commission's process will not be approved.

Rewarding poor behaviour is not something the Commission is willing to do. Eni, Okibo, Okesi, Ileteju, Aiyeromi, Ugugu, Obinoyin, Obatgben, and Oturu are the nine wards in Ogori/Magongo LGA. As a result, the election in those wards is currently suspended.

It stated, "The incidents in the other Local Government Areas are being seriously investigated, and the results, along with the next steps, will be revealed within the next 24 hours."
