JUST IN: IGP Orders Commissioner of Police Redeployment for Imo State, assures Election Neutrality and Security.

In a significant move preceding the upcoming gubernatorial election in Imo state on November 11, 2023, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has directed the reassignment of the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Mohammed Barde, to special duty at the Force Headquarters.

The IGP's decision to transfer CP Mohammed Barde highlights the Police Force's steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining strict impartiality during the electoral process.

This redeployment is not a condemnation of the concerned officer; instead, it is part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing security measures, ensuring transparency, and preserving the integrity of electoral security management.

The IGP is determined to establish a safe environment for all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, and citizens, to engage in the electoral process.

He urges everyone to collaborate with the Police and other security agencies, follow the law, and uphold democratic principles to ensure a smooth and successful election.
