The conflict arose when Murugi intervened in an argument between Ochieng and her husband. Despite her intervention, Ochieng reportedly insulted Murugi, forcibly removed her from the house, and continued to threaten her and her daughter, expressing no fear of the police.
Ochieng, who had separated from his wife, blamed Murugi for his marital issues. Following the incident, Murugi reported the threats to the police, leading to Ochieng's arrest on November 4, 2023.
Police investigations revealed that Ochieng had allegedly threatened his wife and mother-in-law multiple times before the recent incident.
Ochieng denied the charges in front of Senior Principal Magistrate Helen Okwani at the Makadara Law Courts. He was granted release on a bond of Sh100,000 without the option of cash bail.
The case is scheduled for mention on January 23, 2023, with the hearing set to commence on April 23 next year. Murugi's immediate neighbors, who witnessed the altercation, and the investigating officer, are listed as witnesses in the case against Ochieng.
