Bandit Attack on Maulud Celebration Leaves Multiple Dead, many Injured, scores kidnapped in Katsina State.

 

A tragic incident occurred in Kusa community within the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State when a group of bandits launched an attack on a Maulud celebration procession, resulting in the loss of numerous lives, including women and children.Continue reading 

The assailants, numbering significantly, carried out the attack on Sunday, November 5, 2023. A vigilante member reported that at least 20 bodies were recovered from the site of the attack, and several worshippers were also abducted during the violence.

Seventeen individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical care at the Katsina Orthopaedic Hospital and the Musawa General Hospital.

According to a local resident, the bandits initiated gunfire on the Maulud procession around 11:05 pm on Sunday, during which many people were taken as captives. The attackers encircled the celebration venue and subjected the participants to gunfire.

Before security forces could arrive, the assailants had fled to their hideouts. The State Police Command's spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident and stated that the bandits had shot and injured 18 individuals.

 Unfortunately, two of them later succumbed to their injuries. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act to ensure justice is served.
