Unidentified persons are alleged to have fatally hacked a female student at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in Kwara State, who was seeking a Higher National Diploma Continue Reading.
The girl, identified as Toyin Bamidele, a student in the Food Technology Department, was reportedly slain by hacking on Thursday in her off-campus rental home.
The acting head of the organization's public relations department, Mrs. Folake Oyinloye, confirmed the purported murder to PUNCH Online on Friday.
"The management condemns this inhumane act in strong terms, as it is strange in the polytechnic community," stated Oyinloye, confirming that the management has started an inquiry into the murder in collaboration with security agencies.
"Although the incident's circumstances are still unknown, the relevant security services are actively conducting investigations to identify the heinous occurrence and, urgently, to identify those responsible.
"The entire Polytechnic staff and management are devastated by her passing.
"The Department of Food Technology, her family, and friends are all deeply saddened by the loss, and the management strongly encourages anyone with relevant knowledge about this incident to come forward and speak with Security Agents.
"The management prays to God to give her eternal rest, peace in her soul, and support for her family during this difficult time."
As of the time this report was filed, Mr. Victor Olaiya, the State Commissioner of Police, could not be reached by phone, therefore all attempts to get in touch with the police were unsuccessful.
