On Wednesday, Arab foreign ministers will discuss the Gaza-Israel War. After Hamas launched an unexpected strike on Israel, the Arab League declared that its foreign ministers would meet on Wednesday to talk about "Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip."
The "extraordinary meeting" will search for "avenues of political action at the Arab and international level," according to a statement from Hossam Zaki, the deputy secretary general of the Arab League, as Israel continues to pound targets in Gaza in the wake of Saturday's onslaught.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested on Saturday that the Arab League call an urgent ministerial-level conference in reaction to the most recent Israeli escalation.
In a statement, the ministry claimed that it had given the order for "its permanent delegation to the Arab League to request an emergency meeting of the League Council at the ministerial level." The agreement was reached in reaction to "the escalation of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people," according to the statement.
On Sunday, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry urged that the Arab League convene an emergency meeting of the Arab foreign ministers for "consultation and coordination on the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip and the emergence of military actions targeting civilians." The conference will take place this week at the Arab League's headquarters in Cairo, according to the ministry, and extensive conversations have already begun.
Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was proclaimed by Hamas on Saturday following the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and an uptick in settler violence. It claimed to have fired missiles and kidnapped numerous Israelis.
At least 350 Israelis were killed, 1,860 were injured, and numerous soldiers and civilians were captured by Hamas and sent back to Gaza during the attack. Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip in response, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry, caused at least 313 Palestinian fatalities and almost 2,000 injuries.
The previous day's Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, according to the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed branch of Hamas, claimed the lives of at least 13 captives the group had abducted.
"Both foreigners and Israelis were killed during the heavy Israeli attacks during the previous 24 hours in northern Gaza and inside Gaza City," according to a statement.
Six deaths, per the statement, took place in the northern Gaza Strip, and seven others occurred in various places all throughout Gaza City.
The Israeli military asserted that it struck 750 targets in the Gaza Strip on Thursday night, including buildings and underground tunnels.
It went on to say that attacks had also been made against government mansions, armament storage sites, and communication centres in an effort to assassinate activists.
