At a colloquium celebrating Joe-Kyari Gadzama's 25th year as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in Abuja over the weekend, she made this declaration.
Justice Odili highlighted the fear surrounding the elections in 2023 and said that some individuals and groups seemed to be attempting to foment division and animosity.
She stated that while grieving is appropriate, it is not acceptable to take any action that threatens national security because the subsequent instability would harm everyone equally.
Instead, Justice Odili argued in favor of using electoral tribunals and the courts to resolve disputes because elections are irregular and the courts can resume regular operations when a dispute has been resolved.
The respected Justice emphasized the need for lawyers to conduct themselves appropriately at this contentious period and to promote stability amid political difficulties.
