Terrorism: Frederick Nwajagu, the Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate refused bail-A Lagos High Court sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square.

Frederick Nwajagu, the Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate, has been denied bail by the Lagos High Court in Tafawa Balewa Square.

According to Justice Yetunde Adesanya, given the gravity of the alleged act and the harshness of the sentence, the court is compelled to deny Nwajagu's request for bail.

Nwajagu is accused of nine offences, including attempting to conduct terrorism, taking part in terrorism, attending a meeting to support a banned organisation, and funding terrorism.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the defendant submitted a bail application on July 25 and included his medical records as support.

He claimed not to pose a flight risk.

The court dismissed the defendant's request for bail and ruled on Friday that the case would be heard more quickly

Justice Adesanya further instructed staff at the prison to make plans for Nwajagu to receive medical attention at a public hospital.

According to Bendelnews, the defendant's attorney, E. C. Obiagu, SAN, had asked the court to grant bail to the defendant on medical grounds at the most recent postponed date.

The prosecution's attorney, Jonathan Ogunsanya, then urged the court to reject the bail motion.

According to bendelnews, Nwajagu was detained in April by agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) because of a video in which he threatened to call IPOB militants to Lagos in order to defend the assets of the Igbo people who reside in the state.
