Petro, who confirmed the development, claimed that Daysuris Vasquez and Nicolas were both taken into custody by the police.
The 37-year-old and Vasquez were taken to the capital, Bogota, from the beach city of Barranquilla.
Speaking on the subject, Petro pledged not to support his son's legal defence.
