According to information obtained, the incident took place on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Ifite village in Awka.
In order to make it appear as though the dead was attacked by a third party, the suspect is reportedly said to have bruised his body with a knife after he passed out, according to Punch.
Sources claim that when the suspect was apprehended by the local security, he admitted to striking his late boss repeatedly with a pestle after being questioned about why he hadn't completed his domestic chores.
Chima smacked him when he didn't respond, which sparked a battle in which he ultimately killed his boss.
"He instructed me to prepare rice when he returned. He also questioned me about why I didn't wash the dishes as I was preparing the rice. I didn't respond. Then he questioned me as to why I wasn't answering," the suspect claimed.
He slapped me as a result. However, I informed him that I rarely get slapped and that I typically have ear issues. He asked me furiously whether I was still talking while he was speaking as I was finishing that. He then smacked me again, pulled out a cane, and began whipping me all over.
"I then became enraged during the procedure, and we then began to fight. Along with that, I picked up the kitchen pestle during the altercation and struck him in the head.
The suspect initially denied killing his master during questioning, but after being severely thrashed when his movements were noticed as suspicious, he later confessed to the crime.
According to a family source, "the suspect was trying to choke him to death right inside the vehicle where he was sitting close to him allegedly to conceal his atrocious acts that night while friends and relatives of the deceased were taking him to the hospital for medical attention after the encounter. We only became aware of what was happening during the process, and as a result, we began to suspect him. The victim, who was still alive at the time, utilized his last remaining strength to mention the suspect's name before passing away.
"In his confessions, the suspect initially claimed that the deceased's girlfriend, who had visited him that evening, was the one who attacked him. He soon admitted, though, that it was he who beat him to death with a pestle.
The body of the deceased Chima has been placed at the morgue for an autopsy, and the suspect, who is reportedly from the Abakaliki region of Ebonyi State, has since been turned over to the Nigerian Police Force's Awka division for further questioning.
Friends and coworkers have posted condolences on Facebook in the interim.
