Sani Umar, a resident of Dougirei, claimed that when his wife received the news, she panicked before a neighbour reassured her that Boko Haram had already been weakened and could no longer conduct assaults even in Maiduguri, much less in Yola.
Although word of the occurrence only became public a few hours later, he said that locals were not alarmed by any gunshots or other possible grounds for alarm.
