Akpabio condemns governors who fight their predecessors after taking office.

Godswill Obot Akpabio, the president of the Nigerian Senate, claimed that some governors engage in conflict with their predecessors as soon as they take office and called the situation regrettable.

Abiodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, is the only state governor in Nigeria today who hasn't had a dispute with his predecessor, according to Akpabio, who also mentioned senators Adams Oshiomole and Adamu Ailero.

He praised Senator Michael Bamidele Opeyemi for his 30 years of dedication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having worked for him as a legislative assistant in 1992 when Tinubu was still a senator.

This was spoken by Akpabio at Michael Opeyemi Bamidele's lecture and book presentation in Abuja commemorating his 60th birthday.

The 10th Senate's Senate Leader is Bamidele.

"The Governor of Ekiti State is a great example of what leadership should be, he has remained steadfast," the President of the Senate added.

"As a governor, the second you cede control to your successor, he will turn against you. Either his preferences will change, or his attitude will. Except for the governor of Ekiti, no governor in Nigeria had no issues with their immediate predecessor.

Because of this, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele deserves praise for the kind of person he is.

The Senate will receive President Tinubu's much awaited ministerial list within the next 48 hours, according to the Senate Leader.

President Tinubu informed Bamidele this morning when he called to wish her a happy birthday that he would be unable to attend the lecture because he needed to communicate with someone in order to submit the list to the Senate within the next 48 hours.
