Toke Makinwa speaks up 8 years later and shares how she overcame learning that her husband had impregnated his ex-girlfriend.
Actress and media celebrity Toke Makinwa from Nigeria has opened out about how she handled the situation where her estranged husband, Maje Ayida, became pregnant by his ex-girlfriend.
According to Bendelnews, Toke said in the most recent episode of her YouTube vlog series, "Toke Moments," that she was devastated to learn the pregnancy was nine months along.
Although the couple's marriage was legally ended in court in 2017, the actress and her husband Ayida split in 2015.
The media celebrity claimed that even though her husband had been unfaithful, she insisted on going to work since it was her only source of comfort.
Toke claimed that her manager had also advised her to take a break from work, but she insisted that she would be able to handle things because she had figured out how to keep her emotions at bay while working.
"I think [my job] was the only thing that was certain of in my life," Makinwa continued. Every other known method has fallen short. My imagined cosmos had disintegrated. And my work was the one thing I knew for sure.
"I can still picture entering the [radio] studio at around 7 a.m. and hearing the World News. The owner of the radio station then calls and says, "Everyone is talking about you. I don't want to get into it, but people are thinking you would literally fall apart, I think you need to go home.
I've learnt to check my emotions at the door and pick them up later when I'm heading home. Therefore, once I enter the studio, it isn't about me.
"It's about the millions of people trying to make their lives function; they are the ones tuning in expecting to be entertained, informed, and up to speed with what is happening in the world."
