Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde exhorts participants to embrace togetherness
Oyo State Governor 'Seyi Makinde has urged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to set aside their differences and fight for the party's unity, emphasising that the mending process must start right away.
He made the call over the weekend, during the party's retreat for elected officials being held in Bauchi, Bauchi State. He urged party members to put aside any issues that might lead to the party becoming divided as a result of the internal fighting that took place during the general elections and to embrace peace.
Makinde, Bankuli, and others were present.
The governor said, "Well, I want to point out that we went through a difficult election, and whether we want to accept it or not, we have issues among ourselves throughout the elections. However, the mending process must begin, and it must begin right away.
While stressing the need for the party to look to the future, Makinde urged the governors to remain steadfast and continue to play a stabilising role in the party's operations.
"We must concentrate on issues that will bring us together. There is an urgent need for us to look ahead. We must be honest with ourselves. For the governors of the PDP who are present, I can say one thing:for the governors of the PDP, who are present here, I will say that the governors are willing, ready, and able to play a stabilising role in this party.”
"Let me finish by saying that while governments come and go, our nation will always exist. Additionally, as a responsible opposition party, we must act in this nation's best interests when necessary. This is because without Nigeria, there would be no us.
So rather than developing mature plans and waiting for an occasion to employ them, he said, "it is safer to offer a chance that offers itself and extemporise the procedure to fit it."
