Elder statesman and Ijaw leader Edwin Clark has declared he won't make any significant comments on the Bola Tinubu administration till the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal is finished.
Recall that Clark backed Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) third-place finisher who is suing to overturn the election results declaring Tinubu the winner of the 2023 elections.
The Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) convener stated in an interview with media on Sunday in Abuja that he does not want to make statements that are divisive.
The wise man continued by saying that he wants the law to operate normally.
I don't want to congratulate you on that because the electoral tribunals are still in session, he remarked. I don't want to say anything that could be interpreted negatively. So let the legal system operate as usual.
Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary of the June 12 election's annulment, Clark underlined that the government must maintain a peaceful nation where all people are treated equally under the law.
"We all want to live in a country that is peaceful, free from crisis, security threats, and economic hardships, and with a low level of corruption," he stated.
"Since 2014, I have consistently argued that the government should declare a state of emergency against corruption, since corruption is so rampant throughout the nation. Every branch of government in the nation cannot be trusted due to the awful prevalence of corruption.
"We want a Nigeria where everyone coexists peacefully, without harm and where everyone upholds the constitutional requirement that there should be no official state religion.
There shouldn't be any favouritism of one faith over another.
"As senior statesmen at the 2014 National Conference, we gave a lot of suggestions for the future of Nigeria as a nation.
