Judge refuses to declare Abia's governorship election invalid..

The election of Dr. Alex Otti, the candidate for governor of Abia and member of the Labour Party, LP, was not declared invalid by a Federal High Court.

The Kano LP candidates who ran in the general election of 2023, according to the court, were not legitimately elected.

Recall that Ibrahim Haruna-Ibrahim had requested in a court case that the certificate of return be revoked and set aside for all LP candidates who had been proclaimed winners in Kano and the 35 states of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Despite the conflicting responses to the ruling, Justice Nasir-Yunusa affirmed that the Abia candidates who ran in the recently finished general elections were not parties in the suit.

According to Nasir-Yunusa, the court merely ruled that the Labour Party's primary election in Kano State was invalid.

"This court does not have the authority to mandate the issuance of a certificate of return.

They are free to seek justice in the proper judicial division, he said.
