Buhari's appointees and Emefiele must remain in Nigeria, according to Arewa groups, at Tinubu's inauguration.

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has issued a warning that no president Muhammadu Buhari appointee should be permitted to leave Nigeria if they are the subject of any corruption allegations.

The CNG also ruled that Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, should not be let to leave the country until all charges against him have been dropped.

Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the CNG spokesman, said this on Thursday at a press conference in Abuja.

He continued by saying that anyone with such intentions ought to be treated as enemies of the state and dealt with in line with the requirements of the law of the land.

Suleiman stated, "We demand that all key office holders must be asked to dispel any ongoing corruption and other allegations against them before the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office."

If any study leave had been approved for Emefiele or any other suspected official, it should be revoked in the interest of a peaceful transfer of power, accountability, and good governance, the CNG insisted, adding that the CBN Governor must be forced to account for his tenure to the incoming administration.

The CNG noted that the Nigeria Police headquarters had very lately, namely on Monday, May 15, 2023, revealed that there had been plans to thwart Asiwaju Bola's official inauguration as President-elect on May 29. Ahmed Tinubu and the state governor were real.

Suleiman asserted that CNG demands that anybody or organisation discovered to have even the slightest connection to the financing, direct execution, or concealment of knowledge on this nefarious and diabolical scheme be treated as a treasonable felon and an enemy of the state and fellow people.

The organisation additionally requested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, to include all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of Government in its investigation of corrupt practises.

It said that it opposed the alleged plan to focus the searchlight just on departing state governors and demanded that the EFCC Chairman conduct a comprehensive investigation by widening the beam to include the Presidency, Federal Government ministries, parastatals, and departing administration's cabinet members.

The group, he continued, also demanded that the accusations made against EFCC itself as well as the disabling volume of debt amassed  for the country by the outgoing administration.
