Seun Kuti's criminal case has been postponed until Wednesday by the Yaba branch of the Lagos State Magistrates Court.
The judge, Justice Adeola Olatubosun, was absent from the court without a valid excuse, so the trial—which was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 23—was postponed.
One of the singer's solicitors confirmed the adjournment and said that the case had been postponed until Wednesday, May 24.
He also revealed that other solicitors had followed the police to Panti to request their client's release as the court-approved four further days of remand had come to an end today.
In Lagos State's Third Mainland Bridge on May 13, Kuti was accused of assaulting a police officer.
