10th Assembly: more than 60 per cent of Senators are behind Godwill Akpabio becoming Senate president-Imran Muhammad

Imran Muhammad, an A.P.P. member, disclosed on Friday via his Twitter account that more than 60% of senators support Godwill Akpabio, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, as Senate President.

As deputy senate president, he predicted that Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin's coalition would succeed.

According to him, senators who were in favour of Akpabio and Jibrin's partnership had already signed commitment letters.

It was reported that around 65 senators had sided with the Akpabio/Jibrin coalition and had publicly expressed their support for them after approving their promise as evidence that they were involved in the initiative.

The nation's legislative body and its members had been vying for power before the 10th National Assembly was formally inaugurated.

Akpabio, Orji Uzor Kalu, the former governor of Abia State, has been at the top of the list for the Senate Presidency in the Red Chamber presidential race.
