Gov. Sule: FG, States Spent N50bn of N400bn Agreed for Poverty Reduction

After the committee meeting, which was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja under the leadership of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, he interacted with reporters.

He claimed that the president's June 2021 committee's work was not only a state issue, but a national one as well.

"In July 2022, the same steering committee being presided over by the vice president met and examined a presentation by the Technical Working Group, which is chaired by the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning as well as myself as the co-chair," he stated.

"Therefore, we provided the N400 billion permission and the distribution of how it will be used. We merely came today to assess the program's implementation, provide an update on recent expenditures, and approve expenditures for the same committee for the upcoming fiscal year. That is therefore what actually occurred.

It's not something specific to any one state; it's a national issue. So far, more than N50 billion has been spent in accordance with that, the suggestion that was made, and the information we obtained from the Technical Working Group chairman.

"So, the performance so far is poor; it is still below where we anticipate it to be, but practically every one of the 15 areas where the spending will be done.
