Aishat Maina, the governor of Sokoto's special adviser on female education, left her post on Tuesday.
On her way home from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential rally for Atiku Abubakar, Hajiya Maina passed away in Sokoto.
The dead were caught in a stampede that happened at the rally's location, Giginya Stadium, exit gate.
Ibrahim Magaji Gusau, the chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers, confirmed the occurrence and recalled her final moments.
Maina died shortly after being admitted to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, according to Gusau.
The National Woman Journalists Association of Nigeria, or NAWOJ, in Sokoto was previously led by Maina.
Before being assigned to the Female Education Board, she worked as Tambuwal's Senior Special Assistant for New Media.
The deceased government officer is survived by his ageing parents and three children.
