The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has expressed his regret for a collision that occurred outside of a club in South London that was hosting a concert by a Nigerian Afrobeats singer named Ahmed Ololade, better known by his stage name, Asake.
According to reports, Asake was compelled to halt his performance on Thursday at the O2 Academy Brixton, even though the venue was completely sold out, since a large number of his fans who did not have tickets attempted to push their way into the venue nevertheless.
According to a report from the police, there were a total of ten persons injured, eight of whom were sent to hospitals, and two other people who sustained less severe injuries were treated at the site.
In a post that was published on Friday on his Instagram account, Asake extended a public apology to both his devoted fanbase and the individuals whose lives were disrupted by the break-in.
In his letter, he stated, "My heart is with those hurt last night and caused any type of hardship." I pray you get better soonest. In addition to that, I am currently reaching out to various folks.
I have not yet received a complete briefing on the matter from either the venue or the administration of the Brixton Academy, which explains what caused the commotion at the venue's entry.
Also responding to the news of the passing of one of the victims named Rebecca Ikumelo while she was being treated in the hospital, the Mayor of Brixton sent out a tweet on Friday saying, "I am heartbroken by the tragic death of Rebecca Ikumelo who has very sadly died following the awful events that took place on Thursday night in Brixton.
"Everyone who has been impacted in any way by this terrible event is very much on my mind. It is absolutely necessary that the investigation into what took place be brought to a close as quickly as humanly possible.
City Hall has been in communication with a variety of London venues and authorities in an effort to prevent another incident of this nature.
