A 33-year-old Nigerian mother of two dies after sustaining injuries at Asake’s concert stampede in London.

A Nigerian woman named Rebecca Ikumelo, who was 33 years old and a mother of two children, was found to have died as a result of the terrible injuries she sustained during the stampede that took place during a concert by the musician Asake at the Brixton O2 Academy in London.

Ikumelo, who was critically injured in the stampede and had gained a large following on Tiktok thanks to the videos she posted about her experience caring for her autistic son, passed away on Saturday in a hospital. Her videos had become very popular on the platform.

Asake posted on his Instagram account on Saturday to confirm the death of the concertgoer, saying, "I am grieved by the news that Rebecca Ikumelo, who was in a serious condition since Thursday, has regrettably passed away." Ikumelo had been in a coma since Thursday.

"Please accept my deepest condolences, as well as those of her family and loved ones. Please join me in lifting up her family in prayer; thank you. I have already communicated with them, and I will keep doing so. I am at a loss for words and am unable to fathom how this could have ever happened in the first place.

"My team and I are still waiting for the complete debriefing to come back from the Venue management as well as the Police in order to determine what exactly led to all of the disruption that was caused and eventually to Rebecca's passing.

A report from the police indicates that eight individuals were sent to hospitals, while two others, who had received less severe injuries, were treated by medical personnel at the scene.
