Osinbajo assumes the position of a acting president as FEC pays tribute to the late Amechi.

Wednesday, a hybrid meeting of the Federal Executive Council was held in the State House Council Chambers in Abuja. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

In memory of the late Chief Mbazulike Amechi, who served as Nigeria's first Minister of Aviation until passing away on November 1, 2022 at the age of 92, the council held a moment of silence and observed it for one minute.

Before the start of the meeting, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, informed the cabinet that Amechi had passed away.

Niyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investments; Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of the Interior; Sunday Dare, Minister of Sports and Youth Development; Adeleke Mamora, Minister of Science and Technology; and all of these ministers were physically present at the meeting.

In addition to that, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, who is the President's Chief of Staff, was present at the meeting.

Other ministers that were present include the Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, and the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mahmood Abubakar. Both of these ministers were present.

Mariam Katagum, who is the Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investments, as well as Ekumankama Nkama, who is the Minister of State for Health, were both present at the meeting.

The meeting will be presided over by the Vice President because the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.), is currently receiving routine medical treatment in the United Kingdom.

The United Nations Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Water Courses and International Lakes was ratified by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission during their most recent meeting on October 27.
