Amechi was among those who advocated for independence from the British-Obasanjo

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, has lavished praise on the late Mbazulike Amechi.

The 93-year-old senior statesman who served as a representative in the House in 1959 passed away on Tuesday.

Kehinde Akinyemi, the spokesman for Obasanjo, expressed sympathy to the Anambra State government and people in a statement.

Amechi's "excellent career," which spanned the political and communal leadership in the nation, was praised by Obasanjo.

In order to demand Nigeria's independence from its colonial overlords, Britain, Chiefs Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Anthony Enahoro, and others joined Amechi, according to his memory.

The dead, according to Obasabjo, was a selfless and patriotic nationalist, a tireless politician, and a steadfast activist.

"Chief Amechi will also be remembered as a member of the first Federal Cabinet who gave his all.

He earned the respect and admiration of his peers and colleagues because he was a good and affable guy.

According to the statement, Amechi was a model citizen who showed that politics could be a platform for service rather than "mindless enrichment."

Obasanjo, who is currently living in South Africa, made the announcement about the Nigeria-Congo Business Council on Monday while he was in the DRC.
