Health officials were allegedly accused of leaving Rico unattended while recording movies and laughing out loud, according to a viral story debunked by a Nigerian nurse known by the Facebook moniker Ubangha Blessing Ubi.
Remember that a video that claimed nurses abandoned Rico Swavey fighting for his life while they took recordings and laughed went viral on social media on Thursday, October 13, following the reality star's passing.
Netizens were outraged by this and started criticising Nigerian nurses and calling them unprofessional.
Blessing Ubi, who claimed to have worked at the hospital and by virtue of knowing certain people there, responded with a different account.
The Good Samaritan who brought Rico Swavey to the hospital, she claims, was urged to stop filming and help take him inside by the staff.
She continued by saying that the security guards, not the nurses, were the ones heard laughing in the background of the video.
The nurse also urged the media to alter the narrative and provide a true account of what transpired, lamenting how Nigerian nurses' good efforts are routinely ignored while lies gain more attention.
