In the early hours of Thursday, the Falconets arrived in Nigeria after being eliminated from the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in 2022.
The team was welcomed upon arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Secretary General, Mohamed Sanusi, and a representative of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Toyin Ibitoye.
Due to their inability to obtain transit visas, the players and their officials had a miserable experience as they were left stuck at the Istanbul Airport for 24 hours.
Additionally, they experienced delays of over three hours in Bogota, Colombia, and an hour in Panama.
The Falconets' quarterfinal match at Costa Rica 2022 ended in a 2-1 loss to the Netherlands.
The team led by Chris Danjuma triumphed in all of their competition group matches against France, Korea Republic, and Canada.
