Towns Anambra deserted as residents obey the sit-at-home order.

Peoples of Anambra State abandoned major cities, roads, and streets across the state on Monday, according to the Indigenous People of Biafra's Monday sit-at-home edict (IPOB).

Motor parks at the famed Aroma Roundabout and UNIZIK Junction in Awka, the state capital, were closed since no passenger vehicles were on duty.

There was also skeletal tricycle movement, also known as Keke Napep, which was seen early in the morning while filling stations were closed.

As schools in the Awka metropolis were closed, students and pupils were spotted playing in their homes.

A tricycle rider at the famed Eke Awka market told SaharaReporters that while a few businesses were open, there were no customers because the normally lively market was abandoned.

The Niger Bridge Head, Upper Iweka, and many other parts of the city in Onitsha, one of the state's largest markets, were deserted.

Despite IPOB's claims that the Monday sit-at-home order, which began in October 2021, has been long since cancelled, residents have continued to observe the order out of fear of the unknown, as hoodlums regularly enforce the order, killing people and destroying property worth millions of naira in various parts of the state, particularly in Ekwulobia, Iheala, and Nnewi.

Residents of Awka who talked with SaharaReporters claimed they followed the sit-at-home order despite repeated assurances from the Anambra State police command that "even police are not always around, and no one knows where they (gunmen) would meet you."

Many individuals have complained about how the Monday sit-at-home impacts their businesses, noting that they lose not just what they would have made for the day.
